July 17, 2009. Benedict XVI is back on vacation in the Aosta Valley. He’s going home with a fractured wrist, a cast and a small internal plate. He’ll have to remain that way for at least 30 days.
Benedict XVI broke his wrist after slipping in the house where he’s spending his vacation. However, he still celebrated Mass and had breakfast before going to the hospital.
Doctors performed a complete medical check-up and decided to operate using local anaesthesia. The pope asked them to respect the order of patients that were waiting to be treated.
Before leaving the hospital he again thanked the medical staff that treated him.
He returned to his house in the Aosta Valley in northern Italy, close to the Alps, where he will continue with his agenda: a lot of rest and a bit of work.
