YoutubeJanuary 13, 2010. Pope Benedict XVI has met privately with Susanna Maiolo, the young Italian-Swiss woman who attacked the pope while he was walking into St. Peter’s Basilica for Christmas Eve mass.

According to the Vatican spokesman, Maiolo apologized to the pope for the incident. Benedict XVI has forgiven Maiolo and has wished her a quick recovery.

Susanna Maiolo lives in Switzerland now and is under psychiatrist care.

Vatican officials are still investigating whether the 25 year old should be prosecuted for attacking the pope. But either way it looks like she will be forgiven under the eyes of the law too since she was not armed and had no intentions of hurting the pope.
