The Pope met with Benin's president, Thomas Boni Yayi at the Vatican's Apostolic Palace.
The visit marks a year since Benedict XVI visited the African nation, back in November 2011.
Speaking in French, they discussed African culture and also the role the Catholic Church plays in promoting reconciliation in the continent. As a gift, President Boni Yayi gave the Pope a crucifix and also an African chasuble.
