Pope names new Archbishop of Seoul, South Korea, now on fast track to become cardinal

YoutubeApril 10, 2012. (Romereports.com) Pope Benedict XVI has named Monsignor Andrew Yeom Soo Jung as the archbishop of the South Korean capital of Seoul.

The appointment carries a special importance because those who are appointed to lead this archdiocese are usually marked to become a cardinal.


Soo Jung will take over as Cardinal Nicholas Cheong Jinsuk steps down from the position. The new archbishop is 68 years old and was ordained as a priest in December of 1970.
