Pope recalls Saint Vincent De Paul and Chiara Badano at the Angelus

Image NewsSeptember 27, 2010. Before leading the Angelus prayer with pilgrims gathered in Castel Gandolfo, Pope Benedict XVI recalled the witness of Saint Vincent De Paul, patron of Catholic charitable organizations, who died 350 years ago.

“Together with Saint Luisa di Marillac, Saint Vincent founded the Daughters of Charity, the first women’s congregation to live their consecrated lives “in the world”, among the people, the sick and needy."

Benedict XVI also spoke of the witness of Chiara Luce Badano of the Focolare Movement, an example for young people, who was beatified in a celebration just hours earlier.

“It is a celebration for all young people who can find in her an example of Christian dedication”.

At the conclusion of the Angelus, the Pope announced that he will leave this week his summer residence of Castel Gandolfo in order to return to his daily life and rhythm in Vatican City.
