December 12, 2011. (Romereports.com) The pope was visited by Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan at the Vatican on the morning of December 12. He was accompanied by his foreign minister and a delegation from Armenia.
In their meeting, the two spoke about the roles of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Catholic Church in the Eurasian country. They also discussed the importance of instilling moral values into new generations.
As customary with visiting heads of State, the made an exchange of gifts.
President Sargsyan later met with the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.
His meeting with the pope was part of a working visit to the Vatican and Italy meant to improve relations with Armenia.
