September 7, 2012. (Romereports.com) Benedict XVI met with new bishops that are working in mission territories in Africa, Asia, Latin America and parts of Oceania. He asked them not to lose enthusiasm in their work of
passing on faith. These new bishops traveled to Rome to participate in the training course organized by the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
BENEDICT XVI
“I encourage you to make every effort to fulfill your pastoral work diligently, conscious of the gift of grace that has been planted in you in the episcopal ordination.”
The Pope also told these prelates that new people are waiting to hear their message, especially those that have fallen victim to natural disasters.
BENEDICT XVI
“Give confidence to the Gospel, to its renewing power, its ability to raise awareness and provoke, with an intimacy, rescuing people and the creation of a new fraternity.”
The pope has met with bishops at different times in the past before they go to their missionary territory. The meetings help give the bishops experience and resources to govern their dioceses.
