October 1, 2012. (Romereports.com) Before leaving his summer residence of Castel Gandolfo, the Pope
officially thanked the town and everyone who played a role in making
these last few months, so relaxing.
Benedict XVI “I want to express my deepest appreciation to each and everyone of you for your generous dedication during these months. Castel Gandolfo during the summer becomes the 'second home' of the Bishop of Rome.”
The Pope also thanked the bishop of Albano,
Marcello Semeraro, as well as all the civil and military authorities. That includes the mayor of the city.
Benedict XVI“I thank you for your time and interest. I assure you, your entire community will be in my prayers, especially the needy and the sick.”
He then added that he'll be praying for all those who made these last few months so special and calm.
Benedict XVI“The best way to show my gratitude is prayer: I will not fail to pray for you and for your intentions. I hope you will do the same.”
For roughly three months, the Pope stayed at Castel Gandolfo, to avoid Rome's intense summer heat. He came back to the Vatican by helicopter.
