September 30, 2011. (Romereports.com) The pope is getting ready to go back to the Vatican, after spending a few months in his summer residence of Castel Gandolfo. Before saying goodbye to his collaborators there, the pope first met with all employees, including representatives of the city, military officials and religious.
Benedict XVI“I want to express my deepest gratitude to each one of you for making it possible to have a calm stay.”During an audience, the pope also said goodbye to the employees of the Pontifical Villa. He said the tranquility of the area creates a perfect environment to feel closer to God.
Benedict XVI“Here, we live in constant contact with nature while surrounded by silence. I am thankful for this opportunity because both of these bring us closer to God. Nature is the masterpiece of our Creator. Silence allows us to think and meditate without distractions. It's something fundamental for our lives.”The pope will officially be back at the Vatican, on the afternoon of Saturday October 1st.
