YoutubeApril 14, 2010. Benedict XVI expressed his support and condolences for the victims of the earthquake in China during his weekly general audience.

Benedict XVI
“My thoughts are with China who’s suffered numerous losses of human lives, many wounded, and much damage. I am praying for the victims and I am spiritually near all those affected by this very serious tragedy.”

The pope also reflected on the value of the priesthood and said the Ordained ministry means being immersed in the Truth.

Benedict XVI said priests are called to preach and teach not themselves, but Jesus Christ and his revelation of the Father.

Benedict XVI
“I wish to speak in particular of the priests configuration to Christ, the head of the Church, through the exercise of the three munera of teaching, sanctifying and governing. In their ministry priests act, in persona Christi, in person of Christ.”

The pope returned to the Vatican to receive about 16 thousand pilgrims in St. Peter’s square, after taking about 10 days to rest at Castle Gandolfo.
