YoutubeJune 1, 2011. (Romereports.com) Benedict XVI continued his series of catechesis on prayer. During the general audience, the Pope talked about the way Moses prayed.

Benedict XVI

“As the mediator between God and Israel, Moses is a model of intercessory prayer.”

The Pope explained how in praying that way, Moses understood God's heart, which is why he decided to help his people.

Benedict XVI

“Through his intercessory prayer Moses grows in deeper knowledge of the Lord and His mercy, and becomes capable of a love which extends to the total gift of self.”

Although people betrayed God by worshiping idols,  the pope said, Moses takes the fate of his people in his hands so that God may forgive them.

Benedict XVI

“Moses intercedes for his people, fully acknowledging the gravity of their sin. He also pleads with God to remember His mercy, to forgive their sin and thus to reveal his saving power.”

Speaking to 9,000 attendees, the pope mentioned his upcoming trip to Croatia on June 4th and  5th. Since the Holy Father is attending the Catholic Families Day event in Croatia, he asked for everyone to keep him in their prayers.
