“We are very much aware that the Sacrament of reconciliation is directly linked to the New Evangelization. It's an experience based on faith where one can feel the Mercy of God.”
The Pope said the New Evangelization passes directly through the confessional. In this Sacrament, the role of priests is to be 'instruments of God's encounter with men.' The Pope also explained why confession furthers the cause of the New Evangelization.
Benedict XVI
“In that sense, every confession leads a Christian towards renewal. This is a positive step towards the New Evangelization.”
Benedict XVI defined confession as 'an encounter and hug with Christ.' He also added that priests get to collaborate with so many people as they start their new spiritual beginning.
The Apostolic Penitentiary began organizing these type of courses 23 years ago.
