August 29, 2012. (Romereports.com) After the general audience, the Pope made it a point to greet roughly 2,600 French
altar boys who are visiting the Eternal City.
After thanking them, Benedict XVI invited them to develop a personal relationship with God, as they help priests during religious ceremonies. He also advised them to talk to their friends about what they do in their parish.
BENEDICT XVI
“Be mindful of this important service you provide to the Church and to yourselves. May it also give rise to a stronger, personal friendship with Jesus.”
Through this pilgrimage, French bishops want these altar boys to see the universality of the Church. Part of that goal of course, includes directly seeing the Pope.
