YoutubeJanuary 21, 2013. (Romereports.com) Cardinal Robert Sarah welcomed the Pope and thanked him for attending a private audience with members of their Pontifical Council.

“Holy Father, it is with great joy that we greet you in the name of our Pontifical Council Cor Unum.”

The Pontifical Council Cor Unum is the Vatican body that coordinates aid work carried out by official Catholic organizations.

The Pope invited them to continue to defend Christian culture in societies dominated by material and hedonistic tendencies

BENEDICT XVI
“In recent centuries, the ideologies that celebrated a cult of nationality, of race, or of social class have proven to be idolatry. The same can be said of unbridled capitalism with its cult of profit, which has resulted in crises, inequality, and poverty.”

Benedict XVI asked attendees not to forget the spiritual side of mankind. And to reject the notion of allowing something only because it is possible, even if it's not legitimate, such as demographic policies like population control.

BENEDICT XVI

“Christians, especially those who work for charitable organizations, should be guided by the principles of the faith in which we can abide by 'God's point of view', by His plan for us.”

Benedict XVI encouraged them to be vigilant and critical of any work or contributions that directly or indirectly are in contrast with Christian teaching.
