December 20, 2012. (Romereports.com) The mark the occasion of Christmas, Benedict XVI published an editorial in the British daily the Financial Times. He explained why “Christians oppose greed and exploitation out of a conviction.”  



The Pope described the challenges that Christians had to overcome over the centuries, to reject meddling from political and financial power in their lives. They lived through personality cults reserved only for God, but used by Roman emperors as well as totalitarian regimes within the least century, he said. Benedict XVI reinforced Jesus' response to those that wanted to engage him in politics: “Render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.” 

The Vatican's press office explained the newspaper had asked the Pope to contribute an article based on his latest book, The Infancy Narratives. Though it is uncommon, it is not the first time the Pope accepts such a request. In the past he made an appearance on the British network BBC, and also agreed to respond to children's questions on Italian network RAI.
