May 15, 2011. (Romereports.com) A team of two dozen scientists was commissioned by the Vatican to study the effect of mankind on climate change. In their report they warn of a “serious and potentially irreversible impacts of global warming.”

They also warn that inaction will result in the disappearance of glaciers that millions of people depend on for drinking water. Different communities will also be threatened by floods and mudslides.

The report, which will be presented to the pope, was co-chaired by Professor Ramanathan, an atmospheric scientist from the University of California at San Diego.

At the heart of their report is the idea of “Anthropocene,” that says human activities have pushed the earth's ecosystem into uncharted waters that will last for thousands of years.

They also suggest taking action to cut these risks by making steps to reduce the carbon footprint of mankind.
