Ivory Coast president, Alassane Ouattara at the Vatican's Apostolic Palace.
During their brief meeting, they talked about the need to promote peace and human rights in the African nation, as a way to pave the way towards national reconciliation. As the president of the
Economic Community of West African States, Ouattara also talked about the current situation lived in some parts of the continent.
The president was accompanied
by his wife, and also by a
group of government ministers, who also greeted the Pope.
As a gift, president Ouattara gave the Pope an ivory chess, while the Pope gave him a
medal of his pontificate.
