On Friday morning, the Pope met with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Necas, at the Vatican's Apostolic Palace. For roughly 20 minutes they held a private meeting, where among other things, they talked about regulating relations between the Church and State. They also remembered the Benedict XVI's 2009 trip to the Czech Republic.
As a gift, the Prime Minister gave the Pope a copy of a 9th century Gospel book, from the oldest monastery in Prague. In addition to a Pontifical medal, the Pope gave Necas a pen.
During his official visit, Necas met with the Vatican's Secretary of State, Tarcisio Bertone.
