November 30, 2012. (Romereports.com) Benedict XVI met with French bishops for an “ad limina” visit. The Pope
told them that the Church counts on France to carry out the new
evangelization, and invited them to continue pushing the growth of
laymembers and the work of Catholic education centers.
BENEDICT XVI “Within the French Church, there is a long list of saint, doctors, martyrs and confessors of the faith. You have inherited a great human experience and an immense spiritual wealth. They are, withouth a doubt, a source of inspiration for your mission as sheperds.”
The Pope said the new evangelization can be broken down to two simpler tasks: talk about Jesus, and explain his message on Earth.
BENEDICT XVI “The Pastoral Constitution 'Gaudium et spes' poses questions about the human existence, about life or death, of evil, of sickness and suffering, still present in our world.”
According to Benedict XVI, the mission of the Church is to spread Jesus' answers to those fundamental questions. Hence, why the greatest problem today is religious ignorance, a lack of knowledge about the faith.
