October 17, 2011. (Romereports.com) Thousands of people gathered in St. Peter's Square to hear the pope's
Sunday Angelus. The pope talked about preaching the Gospel in a new way, as a means to promote the New Evangelization. Also present, were
many of those who attended the recent Congress on the New
Evangelization.
The pope talked about ways to renew the message of the Gospel, in countries with Christian roots.
Benedict XVI “It's appropriate to remember the beauty and centrality of faith. The need to strengthen and deepen it to a personal and community level. Doing so, not so much from a perspective of celebration, but rather from the mission "ad gentes" and from the New Evangelization".As a way to remember “World Mission Day,” the pope also recognized the work of the Second Vatican Council and the mission 'ad gentes,' which focuses on highlighting the Gospel in areas that don't have a firm grip on Christianity.
Benedict XVI “I invite everyone to identify with Jesus Christ every day. Staying faithful to the baptismal promises and the power of the Holy Spirit. Carrying everywhere the Good News of the Gospel, with a active faith, firm hope and burning charity".Also present in St. Peter's Square, were those who took part in a so called “green rally” to promote a healthy world environment.
