Romereports.com) During Sunday's Angelus, the Pope made a special call to authorities in Syria. In light of numerous killings that have included children, the Pope called for peace, reconciliation and dialogue in the country.
Benedict XVI“I invite everyone - particularly the Syrian authorities - to favor the paths of dialogue, reconciliation and commitment to peace. It is vital to respond to the legitimate aspirations of the various components of the nation, and to the hopes of the international community, which is concerned for the common good of society as a whole, and of the region.”In his catechesis, Benedict XVI reflected on the
encounter Jesus had with a leper. The Pope went on to explain why Jesus can save mankind.
Benedict XVI“Jesus did not avoid contact with the leper. In fact, driven by the man's condition, He reaches out and touches him – outweighing the legal prohibition to do so. He says, 'I want it, you are clean.' This gesture and the words of Christ hold the history of salvation.”For the second straight weekend, it snowed in Rome. Despite the snow and cold weather, thousands flocked to the Vatican. In fact, the Pope even joked about the weather.
Benedict XVI“I wish you all a good Sunday and a good week!Have a good week! Next Sunday, it will not snow! Happy Sunday.”It will be a busy week for the Pope. He's planning on meeting Cardinals from all over the world, as he
names 22 new Cardinals on Saturday the 18th.
