July 24, 2012. (Romereports.com) The
Pope's butler has officially asked Benedict XVI for forgiveness. In a confidential letter,
Paolo Gabriele, states that he recognizes his wrongdoing in the Vatileaks case. He says he acted alone, without accomplices and that he regrets his actions.
The letter was given to the Commission of three cardinals that's in charge of investigating the leaks. At this point, only members of that commission and the Pope himself, have read the letter.
For 60 days, the Pope's butler was in custody, held in a Vatican jail cell. But most recently, he was transferred and is now, under house arrest.
