October 25, 2012. (Romereports.com)The Pope's butler has begun to serve his sentence in a Vatican jail cell. Up until Thursday morning, Paolo Gabriele was under house arrest. The announcement was made through a statement issued by the
Vatican. It explains that the tribunal judge, ordered Gabriele's 18
months sentence to begin immediately.
The butler was found guilty of aggravated theft, for his
role in the Vatileaks case. According to the statement, Gabriele acted
alone. It also states that a Papal pardon is still possible, but only
after Gabriele sincerely apologizes to the Pope and to all those who
were directly affected by the leak of confidential documents.
