YoutubeJanuary 4, 2012. (Romereports.com) For the coming 20th World Day of the Sick,  the pope expressed his spiritual closeness with all the sick. He also asked priests to take the Sacraments to those who physically can't go to church because of an illness.

The pope also focused on why the Anointing of the Sick is so important. He described it as a
medicine of God that strengthens and comforts. One that leads to a definitive cure and ultimately to resurrection.

The pope also recognized the work done by chaplains who work in hospitals, clinics and convalescent homes. He went on to define their work as a “sign and instrument of Christ's compassion.”

World Day of the Sick will be officially celebrated on February 11, 2012.
