President of Switzerland, Doris Leuthard and pope talk about sex abuse crisis

YoutubeMay 6, 2010. Benedict XVI met with the president of Switzerland, Doris Leuthard in the Vatican.

One of the issues was sex abuse. The pope told the president, youths should be protected and that pedophilia doesn’t only affect the Church but all of society.

They also talked about the Swiss law that bans construction of minarets. The pope said religious freedom should exist in all of Europe.

The president gave the pope a medieval book in German about the monastery of Saint Gallen and a box of Swiss chocolate. Benedict XVI gave her a commemorative medallion from his pontificate.
