October 21, 2011. (Romereports.com) After the news of the death of Libya's former ruler Muammar el-Qaddafi,
the Vatican released a statement expressing hope for a new Libya. They
asked for the new government to work toward “peace and reconstruction as
soon as possible”.
Qaddafi's death marks the end of era. He ruled Libya for 42 years before his death in his hometown of Sirte. He reportedly died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
The Holy See has also
expressed their desire that the international community will now
assist in the rebuilding of the country after the civil war.
