february 17, 2012. (Romereports.com) There has been two new appointments within the Legionaries of Christ. The delegate appointed by the pope to oversee the Legion, Cardinal Velasio De Paolis, has appointed new vicar general and a new member of the general council.
The new appointments are the priests Sylvester Heereman and Deomar De
Guedes. They will be replacing Luis Garza and Francisco Mateos Gil in
their respective positions.
The appointment was made with the consent of the other superior generals
of the Legionaries. They're viewed as important nominations, due to the
vicar general is the closest collaborator of general director, the
Mexican Alvaro Corcuera. The general council is the highest governing
body of the institution with only six members.
In this change up, the congregation has also accepted the resignation of
the highest ranking female in Regnum Christi, Malén Oriol. She served
as director of the consecrated since the time of former leader Marcial
Maciel.
