Rio de Janeiro to host the next World Youth Day

YoutubeAugust 21, 2011. (Romereports.com) It's official. The next World Youth Day will take place in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.


The country has the most Catholics when compared to other nations. It has a population of roughly 191 million people and its capital is Brasilia.

Rio de Janeiro is the second most populated city in Brazil, with about 11 million people. It also  holds the title for the most visited city in the southern hemisphere.  

Rio is a main economic source for Brazil. It houses one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the statue of Christ the Redeemer.

It will also host the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. But before all this, it will welcome the pope in 2013.
