September 17, 2011. (Romereports.com) An exciting book, a huge movie and now an impressive show. The city of
Rome is getting ready to welcome "Ben Hur Live.” It's an ambitious
musical that reflects the very quality of its protagonist.
Philip McKinley has already been successful on Broadway. He has been involved with productions like “Spider Man” and “The Boy from Oz.” Now he's hoping to conquer the heart of the Eternal City.

Director, Ben Hur Live“Since we started this project in Germany we've always wanted to bring it home. And home is Rome. Rome is the home of Ben Hur and so it's perfect to present it here.”It has a little bit of everything, like chariot races, battles and of course a story that involves love and jealousy. All shown at a 360 degree angle.

Director, Ben Hur Live"I really like the fight of the gladiators. It's a great scene. Also the battle on the ship. We've built a boat and in one scene it burns.”The drummer of the band “The Police,” Stewart Copeland, composed the soundtrack for the show. It took him about three months. Even though he has composed more than 60 tracks for different films and television shows, he says, writing music for plays is much more difficult.

Ben Hur Live"Miracles happen on stage. Something happens, it changes the rhythm, the key or anything unforeseen, but they get the music to fit perfectly with the action."Ben Hur Live has already been successful in London, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Zurich.
Now, starting September 29th, the hope is that it will be just as successful, if not more, here in Rome, the Eternal city and city of Ben Hur.
