November 10, 2012. (Romereports.com) The Borgia family is one of the world's most famous families. Generation after generation, they've all been talked about for five centuries, since the family tree includes dukes, poets, princesses and Popes.
To find out where the legend of this Spanish family ends and where reality begins, Mario Dal Bello, wrote a book, which translates to “The Black Legend of the Borgias.” It's actually part the Vatican's Secret Archives Unveiled collection.
MARIO DAL BELLO
Author, 'The Black Legend of the Borgias'
“Many secrets come to light. For example Lucrecia Borgia never poisoned anyone and she died a very religious woman in the third order of St. Francis. The Pope was never poisoned, but died of malaria, and we could go on and on. The story of this Spanish family is truly fascinating.”
BARBARA FRALE
Historian, Vatican Secret Archives
“The Borgia Pope is extremely fascinating. Although there were actually two Borgia popes. The most famous was Alexander VI, who gave so much to talk about, he actually created or built up his own legend.”
It's a book that reveals some of the secrets, anecdotes and details of this famous family by shedding light on its legend, from truth to fiction.
