September 14, 2011. (Romereports.com) A group of victims of sexual abuse committed by priests seek to denounce the pope before the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The complaint is largely believed to be a symbolic gesture in hopes of gaining attention. The Court only admits cases that are reported by nation states, the United Nations, or initiated by the Prosecutor of the Court.
In addition to the pope, the group of victims have accused Cardinal
Tarcisio Bertone, Angelo Sodano, and William Joseph Levada of crimes
against humanity.
They claim there has been a systematic, widespread and on-going global practice of concealing rape and abuse, tolerated and enabled by the Vatican.
The accusers say they can demonstrate how the Vatican is directly responsible for the mistakes of bishops.
