December 17, 2011. (Romereports.com) This year the pope has chosen this picture of the Adoration of the Shepherds to say Merry Christmas. It's a photo of a relief statue of San José, inaugurated in July 2010 by Benedict XVI in the Vatican Gardens.
On the back of the card appears the papal coat of arms and hand written message in Latin by the pope saying “Veni ad salvandum nos” (Come and save us). It comes from one of the Advent prayers.
