July 20, 2012. (Romereports.com) Eduardo Gutiérrez Saénz de Buruaga is Spain's new Ambassador to the Holy See. The fate of the Spanish economy is one of his main concerns as an ambassador.
He says the Spanish government pays close attention to suggestions made by the Vatican on how to address economic problems facing the country.

“It's s a crisis of values, a family crisis and I think that's where the Vatican can provide interesting solutions or to remember past proposals such as 'Cartias in Veritate', which is a very important document to address in a profound way solving the socioeconomic problems of the world and for Spain in particular.”
Ambassador Gutiérrez believes that a new stage of constructive dialogue has begun between the two States.

“This government is more sensitive to the religious feeling of the majority of Spanish people, the government of Spain certainly has a very constructive and very positive attitude in its relations with the Holy See. I believe this understanding and positive attitude will be reflected at times of talks and discussions toward resolving any discrepancies.”
Facing the economic crisis together is a new stage of cooperation for these two States that have held relations for over 500 years, which also makes it the oldest embassy to the Holy See.
