August 13, 2010. Spain’s soccer team, along with members of the Spanish Soccer Federation, are in Mexico to offer the 2010 World Cup trophy to Our Lady of Guadalupe.


The offering is in response to a promise made to Our Lady by the president of the Spanish Soccer Federation - Angel Maria Villar. During a visit to the Shrine of Morenita, Angel Maria Villar, prayed for Mary’s help for Spain to win the world championship.

And Spain won indeed the World Cup last July, so the Spanish football members are using their time in Mexico to fulfil their promise to thank Our Lady for her help in this triumph.
