From January 18 to April 30, the competition 'Madrid me encanta' will be accepting songs submitted by young people from around the world with the chance to win a free ticket to attend the World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid.
Anyone between the ages of 16 and 35 and has registered as a participant of World Youth Day can participate. The contest is open to all music genres and it can be performed by an individual or as a group.
The lyrics must be inspired by or refer to the WYD theme: “Rooted and built up in Jesus Christ, firm in the faith.”
The songs should be a maximum of three minutes and must be originals. They can be submitted from anywhere in the world and in any language, but it should be accompanied with a translation of the lyrics in Spanish or English.
The songs will be posted on the contest website madridmeencanta.org. The top 25 songs will be selected by a popular vote on the Internet.
After this a jury composed of five members with music expertise and a representative of World Youth Day will choose the top five.
Registration is free and the winners will get prime seats for the vigil at the Four Winds aerodrome, as well as having their song played throughout the day at different venues.
