YoutubeApril 21, 2012. (Romereports.com) The Catholic Charismatic Renewal is a movement of the Catholic Church. It was born in the United States back in 1970. Today, its mission is to bring forth the experience of Pentecost. Meaning, when the apostles received the Holy Spirit and proclaimed the Gospel to all corners of the world.

Today, the Charismatic Renewal has roughly 100 million members with a presence in 204 countries. In Italy, the movement came about 40 years ago. So, to celebrate many events will take place throughout the year.

One of those events is called 'Ten Places for Ten Commandments', where the idea is to take the Ten Commandments to main Italian cities. It's a project the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization is working on.

MSGR. RINO FISICHELLA
President, Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization

“The new evangelization is once again present on the streets, where people meet, where they gather, where they debate. Above all, we have the possibility to show our faith and identity in public life.”

SALVATORE MARTINEZ
President, Catholic Charismatic Renewal (Italy)

“We must update the Ten Commandments. So to not lie, can be interpreted as always being on the side of the truth. To not steal, means to be generous and to be at the service of others. We must address this and highlight the importance of the natural law, which is the law of God.”

In the month of October 2012, the Vatican will host the synod on the New Evangelization, where bishops will look into how to evangelize in a modern world. Among other Catholic movements, members of the Charismatic Renewal have collaborated in this coming meeting.

MONS. RINO FISICHELLA
President, Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization

“All the episcopal conferences, movements, associations, religious, even individuals, we've had a very positive response that has helped the secretariat of the synod to develop the 'Instrumentum Laboris' which will be our guide for the synod. It will actually be published in a few days.”

During this synod, the Catholic Church will also talk about how to spread the message of faith through new media and social networking sites.
