April 7, 2009- We all carry documents that identify us by age or nationality. But what about a card that identifies you by religion, like this one?
This is the Catholic Identity Card, and the name says it all. It’s a one of a kind initiative launched on Easter Sunday by World Priest, an organization dedicated exclusively to the promotion of the priesthood.

What my hope for the Catholic Identity Card is that all Catholics throughout the world somehow or another over a span of years would ultimately reach out and desire to have one of these cards. And in the event of accidents or emergencies that the priests will be called upon. That people will take the card as being serious.
The card, which Mulhall calls an “affirmation to priesthood,” is personalized with the cardholder’s name. In order to get one all the organization is asking for is the postage price to ship the card.

People can go to the website and they can fill in their name and they can go through the relevant documentation that they wish to fill in so we can ship them back a card for free. I’d like to make the point that the card is free. And all were asking for people to do is pay for the postage.
Mulhall left a successful advertising career in Dublin, Ireland to dedicate her life exclusively to the promotion of the priesthood. It was then that she found herself working with World Priest.

So that I could do something good for the world, that’s really what I wanted to do. So all I could do was to be faithful to the call I received which was to promote the priesthood at any price. So that’s where we looked to world priest to be the beginnings of that.
The card’s launch is still in its first stages. But Mulhall and her organization hope this creative initiative will take off in earnest all around the world. Especially since this year the campaign’s launch coincides with a special celebration: the year of the priest.
