The World Meeting of Families in Mexico focuses mainly on education, and the transmission of human and Christian values from parents to their children, from one generation to another, but it's obvious that this education can only work if the family is united.

While Benedict XVI will not attend the event, he will be very close to the participants. The Pope is sending Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone to represent him. He will also send a video-recorded message to the participants, and he will take part in the final ceremony through video conference, where he will announce the location and date of the next World Meeting of Families.
