YoutubeFebruary 17, 2013. (Romereports.com) (-ONLY VIDEO-)  Tens of thousands of people gathered in St. Peter's Square to see Benedict XVI and hear the Angelus. The Pope continued his catechesis on Lent, as pilgrims cheered him on and thanked him for the eight years of his pontificate.  The Pope also thanked the crowd, in different languages, for their support and prayers these last few days. He also asked pilgrims to continue to pray for him and the next Pope.

I greet all the English-speaking visitors and pilgrims present for today’s Angelus.

Today we contemplate Christ in the desert, fasting, praying, and being tempted.

As we begin our Lenten journey, we join him and we ask him to give us strength to fight our weaknesses. Let me also thank you for the prayers and support you have shown me in these days. May God bless all of you!
