April 2, 2010. The pope presided over the Via Crucis in the Coliseum with thousands of people. At each station, a meditation from Cardinal Camillo Ruini was read. Benedict XVI accompanied the cross at the last two stations.
Two youths from Haiti also carried the cross, representing all of the people who have suffered as a result of the earthquake. Two Iraqis and two monks from the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, also participated in remembrance of the Christians who live on the land of Jesus.
