October 25, 2011. (Romereports.com) For the first time in history, the Christmas tree to be placed in St.
Peter's Square will come from Ukraine, from the town of Zakarpattia.
In fact, Ukraine will be providing the Vatican with at least two trees this year. The second comes from the Lviv region, and will be placed in the official residence of the pope.
The opening ceremony for the Christmas tree will be attended by representatives of the Catholic and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches.
