Update earthquake in Haiti: Archbishop of Port-au Prince among the thousands killed

YoutubeJanuary 14, 2010. The archbishop of Port-au-Prince, Serge Miot is one of the estimated hundreds of thousands killed after an earthquake shook Haiti. The archbishop was home when the earthquake hit the island. His body was found buried in the rubble.


Monsignor Serge Miot was 63 years old, he was ordained a priest in 1975 and Benedict XVI named him archbishop in March of 2008.

The earthquake, which measured 7.3 on the Richter scale, destroyed the cathedral in the capitol and the presidential palace.
