Youtube
The Vatican has taken another big leap to reach the 21st century's digital generation with their own YouTube channel.

Benedict XVI
The Vatican has launched a new initiative which will make information and news from the Holy See more readily accessible on the world wide web. It is my hope that this initiative will enrich a wide range of people.

It's the first time any religious institution has their own channel on Youtube, which is owned by the Internet giant, Google.

Enrique de Castro
Google, Managing Director for Media Solutions
We are very honoured and putting a lot of our best efforts to help the Vatican reach its goals which is to mostly communicate with their community, second with a society in general and third with other religions.

From networking sites like XT3 dot com to I-phone applications like I-Breviary for tech savvy priests, Vatican communications are embracing technological advancements.

Federico Lombardi
Director of Vatican Press Office

The Church is keeping up with the times, learning how to use and choose the technologies that work, and evolves from one to the next.

This YouTube page offers viewers special mass celebrations, liturgies and current messages from the Pope. Vatican uploads are expected to generate many responses from the 1.5 billion users subscribed to Youtube.

Msgr. Claudio Celli
President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications

If people leave thousands of comments on the videos, I wonder who is going to read them all? Because we don't have a large staff.  If this works and works well, I hope the youth around the world can help us with this, we will have to see.

It's clear the Vatican is making an effort to keep up with the world today. Many wonder what will be the Holy See's next step to reach the constantly advancing digital generation.
