April 15, 2010. The Vatican’s official newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, opted not to publish controversial comments made by the Vatican’s secretary of State, Tarcisio Bertone, in which he linked homosexuality to pedophilia in the Chuch.



Bertone made the comments at a press conference during his trip to Chile.

The secretary of State said there are many studies that conclude there is no connection between celibacy and sex abuse.

Instead, Bertone offered another explanation. He cited studies, that he says, prove there’s a link between homosexuality and pedophilia.

His words have been widely criticized and provoked outrage especially among gay rights organizations.
