May 31, 2012. (Romereports.com) Inside the Catholic Church, there is a number of charitable organizations that are on the front lines of some of the world's worst conflicts. They are active in almost every corner of the world. From South Sudan, Congo, the Philippines, to countries in the Middle East and Latin America, Catholics are working to find peace in some of the most unstable nations.
In fact that's why these representatives gathered in Rome for a conference with the Catholic Peacebuilding Network. They were joined by Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana who listened to many of their stories.

“In Congo we had conflict generated about mineral resources available and on a lot of renegade leaderships. Leaderships surrounded by armies who wanted to do their own thing.”
The conference didn't focus only on violent conflict. They were also representatives speaking about disputes over religious freedom and how they could find a common ground with government.

“If you start at United States, there is stuff going on there between the White House and the Catholic Church over the health care bill, that's something that calls for a certain amount of settlement.”
During this two day seminar, many of these Catholic leaders shared their stories of success and failure in conflict resolution. Their hope is to learn from these different approaches and each take them back to their own country.
