November 12, 2011. (Romereports.com) For the pope's coming trip to Benin, Vatican Radio has released a CD that includes eight songs by African musicians. Among them are Congo native Papa Wemba, also Bonga from Angola and Fifito from Guinea.
The collection is titled “Afrika tenda amani!” which translates to “Africa, make peace!” The pope's visit from November 18th to the 20th follows a specific theme named “The Church in Africa in service of reconciliation, justice and peace.”
The songs are in several languages. In fact, some of them even include the words of Benedict XVI, John Paul II and Paul VI, when they spoke on the need for peace in the African continent.
So far, about 5,000 copies have been released. The first ones were distributed among African bishops and Catholic radio stations in Africa.
