YoutubeJanuary 26, 2012. (Romereports.com) The Vatican is joining forces with the United Nations in an effort to fight against international crime.

The Holy See signed three UN Conventions. The first, is the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism. The second is the UN's Convention Against Trans-national Organized Crime. Lastly, it also agreed to the UN's Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.

The Vatican, like other countries, included some reservations. It added that the conventions will be interpreted according to the values of the Holy  See, which includes no political, ethnic or religious disputes.

The Vatican went on to explain for example,  that if two countries, don't reach an agreement, their dispute should be resolved through bilateral agreements, instead of automatically going on to   International Tribunals.

According to the Vatican's foreign minister, Dominique Mamberti, by signing these conventions, the Holy See is reinforcing its  commitment to international justice and peace, in a practical and concrete way.

He also highlighted the Vatican's commitment to promoting human dignity and harmony among people.
