December 23, 2011. (Romereports.com) Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican's press office, has sent a Christmas card to journalists accredited to the Holy See. In his message, he reflects on the role of journalism in covering the current economic crisis.
The Vatican spokesman asked that reporters be witnesses and interpreters of reality, helping people to find meaning and hope for the future.
In particular, he has said the way of covering the crisis may be destroying people's trust and hope instead of helping to rebuild it.
This is why he has asked reporters to consider if they are communicating what's important or if they're being driven by secondary issues or aspects that confuse or create delusions for the public.
