August 30, 2012. (Romereports.com) The attorney for pope's butler, Carlo Fusco has abruptly abandoned his case in defense of Paolo Gabriele against charges of leaking private documents in what has become known as 'Vatileaks'. Fusco says his decision was based on “differences over the line of defense”.
He is actually a childhood friend of Gabriele. Fusco says that even though he is leaving the case, the two will maintain their friendship.
According to the Italian news agency ANSA, Cristina Arrú, the second defense attorney in the case is remaining for now but there is a chance that she also could leave the defense of the pope's butler.
