May 28, 2012. (Romereports.com) The Vatican is still investigating the theft and leak of confidential documents. As of now, more arrests could follow this week. But the Vatican wants to clarify some details of the investigation.

“The notion that an Italian Cardinal is being investigated is completely false. I also categorically deny that a woman is being questioned in this case.”
The Pope's butler, Paolo Gabriele who was arrested last week, has only been accused of stealing documents, not for releasing them to the public. If found guilty, the case would fall under aggravated robbery.

“We are in the first step of the formal process. Paolo Gabriele has personally chosen two lawyers, who in turn have said that their client is willing to cooperate.”One of the butler's lawyers released a letter, which states that Gabriele is open to collaborating with judges.
The butler was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, after Vatican police officers searched his apartment where he lived with his wife and three children. Inside that apartment, private documents were found. In fact some of those documents, coincide with those that were published.
Paolo Gabriele is being held in a prison cell next to the Vatican court.
The Vatican's spokesperson said that the Pope is saddened by scandal and investigation. Even so, he has followed through with his planned schedule.
